Leadership in School Renewal: Examining Consistency Among Three Instruments Measuring Orientation, Principle, and Implementation

Abstract

Based on previous psychometric analyses on three instruments measuring the construct of school renewal—(a) Orientation to School Renewal, (b) School Renewal Principles and Practices, and Implementation Integrity and Fidelity in School Renewal, we inquired into the consistency among these three instruments by employing a multivariate, multilevel analytical approach. The results indicate there is a high level of consistency among these three instruments. From a theory and research perspective, the study substantiates the construct of school renewal by operationalizing school renewal from three perspectives. From a policy and practice perspective, the study provides a framework to guide school renewal work with specific foci.
