The importance of promoting reading skills is critical at this time in the field. Recognizing this importance, the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement has documented reading performance across several country using the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS). This paper presentation, as part of our collaborative international team, colleagues from the United States and Ireland, examine the PIRLS data collected from the Ireland sample to explore more fully various dimensions of the PIRLS framework and students’ reading performance results.
