Profesora Pedagogy and Muxerista Resilience and Empowerment (PPMRE): The Building of a Conceptual Framework

Sun, April 27, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Bluebird Ballroom Room 2H

Abstract

The exploration of Latine people in research has expanded greatly over the decades. From LatCrit to Chicana Feminism, researchers have utilized numerous frameworks to understand the shared/diverse experiences of the Latine community. Profesora Pedagogy and Muxerista Resilience and Empowerment (PPMRE) is a conceptual framework that explores Latina experiences through the elements of intersectionality, systems of power, secondary education, and resilience and advocacy. PPMRE aims to address the following questions: (1) How do researchers uphold the shared/diverse identities and experiences of Latina educators? (2) How can researchers better understand the systemic oppression that exists within the cycle of K-12 education, higher education, and the teacher workforce? (3) How can researchers use a framework that centralizes the exploration of education?
