Abstract

This project examines three secondary U.S. history textbooks produced for Texas and their presentation of two major events regarding the U.S. and Southwest Asia/North Africa (SWANA). Using a literary analysis methodology, I assert the textbooks vilify SWANA through the use of colonialist language and Orientalist tropes.
