Peer to Peer: Why Peer Mentoring is Important to Positive Student Outcomes

Thu, April 24, 9:50 to 11:20am MDT (9:50 to 11:20am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Bluebird Ballroom Room 3F

Abstract

A peer coach and program participant, this discussant and storyteller will also discuss the benefits they experienced from developing connections with faculty in the program and with the students they support. This participant will contribute a personal vignette and participate in the panel discussion, providing their perspective on the program. Like faculty instilling a sense of community and belonging with students, LEAD Coaches also can impact student connections on campus. Coaches will highlight examples of connections, both positive and challenging, with the audience to add a sense of context to the theoretical framework of a sense of belonging highlighted by the second faculty presentation.
