Α Blended Learning Model to Promote Intercultural Education and Second Language in Mainstream Classroom

Abstract

Globally, bi- and multilingual students are prevalent, falling behind native speakers. Students from migrant or refugee backgrounds are integrated in mainstream classrooms, where teachers readiness is crucial. Due to inadequate teacher preparation programmes, most mainstream teachers lack sufficient understanding of second language teaching and intercultural education. The study critically examines the needs of the teachers so as a Blended Learning Model is successfully implemented in educational practices aiming to promote intercultural education via the critical interculturality lens when technology is integrated. Findings from online questionnaires in two countries discuss the promotion of intercultural education via the critical interculturality lens when technology is integrated. It also discusses the design and implementation of teachers’ in order to achieve the aforementioned.
