Abstract

The objective of this essay is to answer the question: What examples of Indigenous educational sovereignty and digital pedagogy can I contribute to centering values and relationships in “virtue-rural” spaces? The purpose of virtue-rural Indigenous education is to build a rich digital community that connects learners through virtues of place while we navigate the reality that we’re operating in complex notions of movement, connectivity, and relationilty with each other, and our lands. This autoethnography explores virtue-rural education from the perspective of teaching an online Native American Studies course in the context of creating learning communities rooted in student homes.
