This paper critically reevaluates Mikhail Bakhtin’s carnival theory to uncover its transformative potential within contemporary educational settings. It addresses the dual challenges of carnival’s suppression and the prevailing shift towards dialogism in educational research, which have historically diluted its radical implications. By revisiting Bakhtin’s seminal works, this analysis not only clarifies fundamental carnival concepts but also investigates the dialectical tensions between authority and carnival. The paper proposes innovative applications of these concepts in educational theory and practice, advocating for the integration of carnival as a vital element in fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
