Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as ChatGPT has become relevant in working and learning processes in higher education.
This research examines the intention of students to use ChatGPT using eight relevant psychological factors (Perceived Usefulness, Attitude, Subjective Norms, Confidence, Optimism, Behavioral Intension, Literacy, Anxiety) based on an extended theory of planned behavior (TPB). The research question is to investigate relationships between the factors of TPB.
N = 231 students of different German university took part in our survey-study.
A structural equational model was calculated to ascertain the significant relationships between the factors. 26 hypothesed relationships, 15 were supported.
The initial findings underscore the importance developing strategies and curriculum chances to promote responsible and effective use of ChatGPT in higher education.
