Abstract

Based on a survey of 1177 Chinese adolescent, this study analyzed the latent classes of intolerance of uncertainty (IU) and the mediation role of self-reflection between IU and career adaptability using variable-and person-centered approaches. Latent profile analysis identified four IU profiles: medium prospective anxiety (PA)/medium inhibitory anxiety (IA) (28.97%), high PA/high IA (7.48%), medium PA/low IA (46.73%), and high PA/low IA (16.82%). Self-reflection was found to totally mediated the relationship between IU and career adaptability. Specifically, results showed that compared with the medium PA/medium IA profile, self-reflection totally mediated the relationship between the High PA/High IA profile and career adaptability, while self-reflection partially mediates the relationship between high PA/low IA and career adaptability. Findings provided important insights for career education.
