Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the Village Institute schools as an experiment in fair education in a newly established state. The ongoing debates on these schools at the national level, as well as the fact that similar examples of these schools are seen at the transnational level in the historical process, makes it possible to address the issue with a new understanding. Addressing the phenomenon of fair education through the state, society, social needs and educational actors provides solution and repair perspectives on the issue. The study concluded by applying discourse analysis to primary and secondary sources within the framework of Bourdieu's (1983) economic, cultural and social capital approach.
