Abstract

Despite the wide use of the State Anxiety Inventory (SAI) in Nigeria, very little information is available on validating the SAI-20 items using the Rasch model in any Nigerian population. Health practitioners and researchers should have reliable and valid measurements when making important decisions on health outcomes using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Therefore, this study focused on investigating the psychometric properties of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory using the Rasch model. The result of the Rasch analysis indicated that most of the items on the SAI met the assumptions of the Rasch model.
