Check and Connect to Prevent School Failure: A Systematic Review (Poster 17)

Sun, April 27, 8:00 to 9:30am MDT (8:00 to 9:30am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Exhibit Hall Level, Exhibit Hall F - Poster Session

Abstract

Interventions have been developed to improve academic and behavioral outcomes for students who are at-risk for not completing high school. One such intervention, Check & Connect is considered to be an evidence-based practice that can help meet the needs of this population of young people. Check & Connect is widely used across the United States. However, key supporting empirical literature is dated. The purpose of this study was to update our understanding of the existing empirical literature. Results suggested that Check & Connect appears to be effective for improving attendance, and likely for improving academics and behavior as well. While Check & Connect has a robust research base, additional well-designed investigations are needed to fully understand its potential.
