This umbrella review examines the current state of artificial intelligence (AI) in K-12 education by synthesizing evidence from 92 systematic reviews. The study aims to describe the characteristics, review focuses, and quality assessments of these reviews. We found that a) most existing reviews focus on AI functions but lack attention to AI education and literacy, and AIEd theories; and b) the many review studies need to improve their data management, extraction process, analysis method, and the report of limitations. In addition, we generated a framework to guide reviews in AIEd and refined a quality assessment rubric that can be used for umbrella review in general.
