Fri, April 25, 9:50 to 11:20am MDT (9:50 to 11:20am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Bluebird Ballroom Room 3G

Abstract

This study systematically reviews artificial intelligence (AI) professional development (PD) initiatives for teachers, emphasizing the Intelligent Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (i-TPACK) framework. Using the PRISMA protocol, the review explores AI PD programs' structure, AI tools taught, and the integration of i-TPACK domains. From 15 studies included, findings reveal four effective PD features, including active learning, coherence, models, and expert support, contributing to significant improvements in teacher knowledge, practices, and AI teaching self-efficacy. The study highlights the need for comprehensive AI PD programs that integrate ethical considerations and provide hands-on experiences with AI technologies, ultimately aiming to enhance teacher instructional practices and professional agency in diverse educational settings. This review offers valuable insights for stakeholders interested in AI and teacher learning.
