Sat, April 26, 8:00 to 9:30am MDT (8:00 to 9:30am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

Little is known as to how gentrification affects early childhood institutions and what happens when these institutions close. To address this gap in research, this paper focuses on how an early childcare center, Violet (pseudonym) affected by gentrification and COVID-19 closed and how this closure affected the director, teachers, children and families. The findings of this study provide insight into how an early childcare center closure can leave a lasting effect on the community on a personal and societal level.
