Revolutionary Love: Centering the Full Humanity of Children in Early Literacy Curriculum

Abstract

In this presentation, we will go into the actual classrooms of teachers we have worked with for years to provide examples of how those teachers use research-proven strategies to transform their reading and writing instruction to create liberating, relationship-oriented classroom spaces that are engaging for students, families, and communities. Finally, we will also share common, yet harmful practices, that narrow the curriculum and offer suggestions for ways to effectively address those practices.
