This study explores the use of Generative AI (GenAI) tools to enhance world language pre-service teachers' (WLPSTs) understanding and application of critical multilingual awareness-oriented pedagogical practices and their perceptions of GenAI. Conducted over a year, this case study collected teaching artifacts (N=31), critical reflections (N=28), and semi-structured interviews (N=3) through thematic analysis. Initially skeptical about GenAI's effectiveness, WLPSTs recognized its potential to foster culturally relevant teaching. They valued ChatGPT-4 for generating innovative ideas and synthesizing diverse information, while DALL-E provided unique visual aids despite challenges with image consistency and world language accuracy. The study highlights GenAI's benefits in creating engaging, inclusive classrooms and calls for improved training data to reduce biases and enhance multilingual accuracy.
