Abstract

This study investigates the existing evidence for online courses in the context of higher education in China. The two research questions are: What are key features of online courses in Chinese universities? How do Chinese teachers and students perceive online courses? The aim is to gather and map practices related to online courses in China. A scoping review is used to ensure a systematic methodology. Open access literature owning empirical evidence from quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods is included in the review. Using thematic content analysis to explore the data extracted from included articles, this study presents the results of features and perception in the above research questions. Discussions are also conducted regarding the future development path of online courses.
