Two-Phase Content-Balancing CD-CAT Online Item Calibration

Fri, April 25, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 608

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of incorporating two-phase content-balancing constraints into the CD-CAT online calibration procedure. Preliminary results indicate that integrating content area constraints into the traditional online calibration process not only enhances item pool utilization but also maintains accurate estimation of new items. Furthermore, the effectiveness of calibration is influenced by sample size and the distribution of item parameters. This study is beneficial for helping teachers to provide content-targeted instructional interventions and facilitate students’ comprehensive development.
