Abstract

Embedded in the vision of public education in Canada are the touchstones of public access, public funding, and public control. Yet, the ascendancy of neoliberalism as a global political–economic ideology has substantially challenged and transformed that vision. This article offers a more hopeful narrative about the potential and possibilities of public education in Canada and other western countries.
