No Child Left Out: (Re) Learning the True Nature of Inclusion

Sun, April 27, 8:00 to 9:30am MDT (8:00 to 9:30am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 404

Abstract

Leadership programs often neglect gender and sexuality related equity issues leaving educators ill-prepared to form affirming relationships with queer youth or prevent their marginalization. This eight-year retrospective analysis examines the subjective reactions of graduate students at two Southern universities to equitable practices relative to queer students. Data reveals the need to address LGBTQ+ equity on many fronts to help school leaders become more inclusive while challenging the oppression of LGBTQ+ youth.
