Racial Power in Texas: Using Critical Geographies of Race to Assess a Local History Website

Abstract

Drawing on critical geographies of race, this critical race discourse analysis analyzes a local history website depicting Waco, Texas, to assess the discursive role of racial power. Centrally, findings demonstrate that the resource disregards racial power’s salience in this city’s (white) history by normalizing whiteness and de-racializing spatial production.
