This paper seeks to identify and address gaps in the research that exist between anti-racist teaching and abolition pedagogy. A systematic review of 38 articles on anti-racist K-12 teaching published in the post-2020 context reveals: 1) a limited centering of the needs and well-being of Black students, and 2) that pedagogies focusing on Black Joy and loving Blackness are absent from the literature. This literature review is salient to the theme of AERA's 2025 Annual Convention (and Division K) as it puts forth abolition praxis as a means of repairing the marginalization of Black people and leading to radical transformations in teacher education.
