Interweaving Intersectionality Throughout Case Study Methodology

Wed, April 23, 4:20 to 5:50pm MDT (4:20 to 5:50pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

Case study is a type of qualitative methodology that explores a problem or phenomenon within its context (Yin, 2018). While scholars have created impactful studies applying the theoretical framework of intersectionality to case study methodology (Anderson & Riley, 2021; Cayari, 2018), there is a gap in the literature regarding direct guidance on how to intentionally combine intersectionality with case study methodology. The following paper session outlines one approach to applying the framework of intersectionality to case study methodology, based on a previous research study conducted by the author about intersectionality and interpretations of Title IX. Implications for this study provide guidance for future authors and scholars on how to apply intersectionality to case study methodology.
