Abstract

The study delves into the perceptions of systemic barriers faced by Black Americans in the professional workplace and underscores the importance of exploring race's impact to address privilege and disparities. The research aims to assess the perceived barriers to advancement in the professional workplace for Black Americans across multiple generations who graduated from a college/university (HBCU/PWI) in Louisiana. It explores the intricate interplay between race, educational backgrounds, generational perspectives, and the challenges faced in pursuing professional advancement. It also underscores the pivotal role of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in nurturing Black individuals, particularly those from low-income or first-generation backgrounds.
