Fri, April 25, 3:20 to 4:50pm MDT (3:20 to 4:50pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

This systematic review synthesizes research on bilingual international students' social cognitive factors and academic acculturation in English-speaking higher education institutions. By reviewing and analyzes 43 studies, this review summarized four key factors influencing bilingual international students’ academic acculturation, including academic, social, demographic/personal, and institutional factors. The findings also highlight the significant roles of self-regulation, self-efficacy, and achievement goals in international students’ acculturation process. The review offers insights for researchers and educators to developing effective support systems and helping bilingual international students to better adapt the new learning environment, as well as to promote their academic success and well-being in higher education.
