Accessible and Inclusive Skills Development: The FUSION Story

Sun, April 27, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 111

Abstract

The FUSION curriculum is a flexible, online, integrated learning experience designed to enhance student skill development in three areas critical to 21st century success. This paper outlines how the FUSION skills development curriculum is a valuable, inclusive, and accessible intervention that supports undergraduate students to successfully complete their studies and subsequently engage in active roles where they can leverage their skills and knowledge as they engage with and respond to diverse societal needs and challenges. By analysing student interviews and reflective workbooks, we found that students not only developed their skills in the areas of metacognition, communication and problem-solving, but they increased their awareness of the need to continue to develop these skills and expand skills development into other areas.
