Abstract

This study presents the findings from phase one of Project DREAMS (Diversity Recruitment, Education, Advancement, and Mentorship for Success) (Diversity, Recruitment, Education, Advancement, and Mentorship for Success) aimed at preparing intern teachers and their school administrators for effective school improvement in California schools. The study conducted an online survey to gather the perceptions of school administrators across the state on the need to recruit and retain diverse intern teachers and administrators to support underrepresented students. The findings highlighted the importance of recruiting and retaining culturally competent teacher interns and administrators to meet the needs of the diverse and underrepresented student body in Californian PK-12 schools.
