Schools provide a conducive setting for fostering mental health and wellbeing among students and the community. Successful mental health promotion in schools is contingent on numerous factors, such as adapting to local context, needs and resources. Hence, research in the field requires a co-creation approach to achieve culturally relevant and socially useful results oriented to offer a holistic repair for those who have suffered harm. This paper explains a unique co-creation approach within a mixed-methods design of a EU-funded Horizon Europe research focused on promoting mental health in high schools across Europe, as well as providing recommendations for implementing such co-creation frameworks to school-based interventions. Co-creation creates affordances for a transformative approach to encourage whole-school involvement and foster community wellbeing.
