Sat, April 26, 3:20 to 4:50pm MDT (3:20 to 4:50pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

As chatbots gain popularity in educational institutions in K-16 schools, this systematic review seeks to examine the impacts of chatbot-enabled educational interventions. The study analyzed empirical studies conducted between January 2010 and October 2023 in K-16 settings. Following the PRISMA protocol, 22 articles were selected and included in the reviewing. Our findings indicated mixed results regarding the effectiveness of chatbots on both affective and cognitive aspects of learning. Consequently, more rigorous and robust research studies should be conducted. Future research should investigate how chatbots can enhance cognitive learning processes and why it might positively influence affective outcomes across various academic disciplines in K-16 education.
