Abstract

This paper presents the analysis of an online learning program designed for a targeted adult user population. Given adult learners’ distinct needs, a systematic approach based on the principles of andragogy as applied to online learning was used for design, development, and analysis. Measurement of theory-informed development was completed through a mixed method analysis of learning analytics and embedded questionnaires within the first module of the program. Preliminary evidence shows positive interactions with the platform and positive application of the learning through intended outcomes. The study contributes to the understanding of adult learning contexts and how distinct design and development decisions can be made in a field that is often highly standardized in its implementation.
