Facing Challenges With School Communities Through Engaged Research

Sat, April 26, 8:00 to 9:30am MDT (8:00 to 9:30am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 707

Abstract

This presentation aims to showcase "Brincadas - Collective of Investigation and Action (COLINA)" as an engaged research project developed using Critical Collaborative Research (PCCOL) (Magalhães, 2006). By fostering active collaboration between researchers, educators, children, and their families, the project aimed to create an environment of critical interaction and learning, utilizing play and performance as principal tools (Vygotsky, 1987). Grounded in socio-historical-cultural theories, particularly those of Vygotsky and Freire (1970), PCCOL in Brincadas COLINA promoted a series of 9 workshops for the active participation and co-construction of knowledge through play, performance, discussions and inquiry. By involving all participants as co-researchers, the project valued their voices, investigating the ethical-political suffering and developing their Funds of Perezhivanie to confront and overcome these challenges.
