Thu, April 24, 5:25 to 6:55pm MDT (5:25 to 6:55pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 704

Abstract

Positioning a Critical Race Feminista approach to testimonio, the study presents an intergenerational story of the use of testimonio methodology. In this collective storytelling, we trace back to origins of testimonio to address humanistic methodological capacities of testimonio for the engagement of diverse Latinx student communities. The study is attentive to the transformation–and Queering of testimonios to the Queering of these by presenting stories of Queer Transfronterizx college students. Four commitments for facilitation are presented, with ascriptions to Critical Race Feminista Methodology. These include: convivencia and shared-vulnerability, spaces of consciousness and healing, disruption of traditional protocols for compassion and reflexivity, and repositioning of power for Latinx collaborators. Thus, transforming testimonio methodology repairs data collection tools for Queer Latinx collaborators.
