Abstract

This study examines the implementation of LENA Start, a parent education program focused on young children's language development, in two rural communities. Through parent and instructor interviews, we identified implementation barriers and facilitators. Key barriers included recruitment challenges, rural location, and technology difficulties. Facilitators included social support, instructor quality, and LENA reports. The study also revealed differences in implementation approaches between the communities, highlighting the importance of strong local partnerships. Findings suggest that implementing evidence-based programs in rural areas requires additional resources and adaptations to address unique challenges. This research contributes to understanding how to effectively deliver parent education programs in rural settings and emphasizes the need for culturally relevant, flexible approaches that balance fidelity with local needs.
