Abstract

Integrating AI technologies in K-12 education is essential for improving efficiency and enhancing student learning. Understanding AI's impact on teaching practices is critical. This study evaluates how AI literacy workshops affect educators' knowledge, attitudes, self-efficacy, and AI integration in teaching. A mixed-methods approach with quantitative and qualitative data was used. Participants were 20 educators from an AI Research Summer Institute at an urban HBCU in the Northeast. They completed pre/post surveys and in-depth interviews. Results showed significant improvements in AI knowledge and self-efficacy. Thematic analysis revealed enhanced teaching strategies, increased student engagement, and challenges in AI tool adoption. These findings highlight the importance of AI literacy workshops for modernizing education.
