“It’s Kind of an Art!” Exploring ArtScience in Youth STEM Identity Work

Abstract

In this paper we present findings from a participatory design research project involving high school youth and science educators working alongside university scientists to explore relationships connected to environmental and social justice within their local communities and further their interests in STEM. In this context we use ArtScience as a lens to understand how art is emerging in science practice for the youth and scientists involved in the project, as well as the impact ArtScience has on their STEM identity work.
