Abstract

This project seeks to understand the impacts faculty of Color departures have on graduate students. This qualitative exploratory study focuses on the forms of knowledge graduate students have access to as a result of working with faculty of Color. The study also explores the impact that faculty of Color departing a university has on the scholarly work of graduate students, particularly related to epistemologies. The theoretical framework guiding this work is critical race theory. Preliminary results indicate faculty of Color departures has impacts on graduate student access to methodologies, critical frameworks, and experiential knowledge.
