Elevating First-Generation Asian American Voices: Racial Identity and College Experience

Fri, April 25, 11:40am to 1:10pm MDT (11:40am to 1:10pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 2-3

Abstract

In higher education, Asian Americans remain under-researched and subsequentially misrepresented. Prominent studies on first-generation college students also exclude the experiences of Asian American students. Through semi-structured interviews, this study explores the experience of first-generation Asian American college students and how these students make sense of their college-going and racial identities.
