Mothers of a Movement: A Collective Remembrance of Philadelphia’s Black Women Teachers Fighting for Educational Renewal (Poster 51)

Fri, April 25, 8:00 to 9:30am MDT (8:00 to 9:30am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Exhibit Hall Level, Exhibit Hall F - Poster Session

Abstract

This paper examines the experiences, perceptions, and pieces of knowledge bestowed upon students at three generations of Philadelphia school students who have experiences with three veteran Black women educators. The implications focus on constructing the story work often forgotten in centering equity in educational justice work, and that consists of the narratives of teacher impacts and the outcomes of Black women’s connections to the development of students’ resilience, self-efficacy, and joymaking.
