Sat, April 26, 8:00 to 9:30am MDT (8:00 to 9:30am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 107

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of integrating music into computer science education on college students' attitudes towards computing. A quantitative survey design was employed, gathering data from 38 participants in a college general education elective course. The results show a statistically significant increase in students' attitudes towards computing, particularly in computing confidence and enjoyment, after participating in the music-based, computer programming intervention. The implications of this research contribute to the growing body of literature on STEAM education and its potential to broaden participation in computer science.
