This systematic literature review, containing seven mixed methods research (MMR) studies, explored the use of MMR elements, such as research questions, rationale, design, and integration, in the field of English language education for international students in the US universities. It also reported the main topics and key findings discussed in these studies to illustrate the significant perspective in these studies brought through MMR application. The findings indicated that most of the studies had clearly stated quantitative, qualitative, and/or MMR questions along with MM rationale and design, However, there was a lack of integration among these studies. The findings of this review focused on enhancing MMR in researching applied linguistics to understand the nuances of international students’ language education.
