Decolonizing Dreamers for Palestine: Reflections, Testimonios, Activism, Encampments, and the Desire Toward a Third Worlding University

Fri, April 25, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 113

Abstract

Drawing on la paperson’s (2017) scyborg and third worlding university concepts, this project examines our experiences as students involved in encampment activism at Boardwalk University. Applying decolonial methodologies, we employed testimonios to reflect on our participation in a pro-Palestine encampment, acknowledging our complicity and being “colonialists-by-product of empire” (la paperson, 2017, p. xxiii), while advocating for liberation for oppressed peoples globally. Through a grounded theory approach, we highlight the structural agency described by la paperson (2017), emphasizing the interconnectedness of struggles against oppression, such as settler colonialism and racial capitalism. This project contributes to decolonial studies and education by elucidating our decolonial desires and fostering solidarity.
