Abstract

The provincial Early Childhood Development Association in a Canadian context secured funding to implement US-based Pyramid Model for Promoting Social Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children framework (PM) in their province, and our research team was commissioned to conduct a third-party evaluation of this innovation initiative. This paper focuses on the methodological design and preliminary findings regarding adaptation challenges. Employing action research methodology with mixed methods design, the study involves 10 coaches and 18 early childhood educators through four iterative research processes of plan-act-observe-reflect over two years span. Data collection utilizes surveys, interviews, and PM intrinsic instruments. This research contributes to discussions on evaluation strategies for social innovation projects, offering insights into cultural adaptations required when transferring educational practices internationally.
