Abstract

This study, "Cultural Continuity in Education: A Student-Centric Analysis of the Black Teaching Tradition at HBCUs," is a student-centric exploration of the presence and impact of Black teaching traditions among Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) faculty. Utilizing Critical Race Theory (CRT) as a framework, this research examines the extent to which HBCU students perceive their Black professors' pedagogical practices as reflective of historically Black educational philosophies. The study aims to uncover if students experience these traditions by conducting qualitative, phenomenological research through interviews with students across five HBCUs. Findings will inform professional development needs and enhance our understanding of HBCU pedagogy.
