Continuing Investigation Into College Students' Flourishing: Time Allocation, Belongingness, and Mental Health

Sat, April 26, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 4

Abstract

This project extends previous research on college student flourishing by using a large national dataset to examine the impact of mental health, sense of belonging, and time allocation, with a focus on minority student groups. Factor Analyses and Structural Equation Modeling are employed to understand these relationships. Preliminary findings indicate that responsibilities or multiple roles positively impact flourishing, while media consumption, psychological distress, loneliness, and suicidality negatively affect it. The research also highlights the need for targeted interventions to support minority students.
