Reflecting on Educational Frameworks: A Decolonial and Restorative Justice Approach

Abstract

In this paper, we bring together a theoretical exploration of the idea of justice in the education system and a descriptive study of our collaborative work with three schools and a group of teacher educators in implementing restorative justice perspectives. Our aim is to explore the epistemological and ontological heritage of learning to build community in the education system, particularly through the lens of justice. Building on decolonial ontoepistemologies we explore what this means for our work, specifically the role of theory and pedagogical actions in what we are able to imagine as possible educational futures.
