Abstract

The integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) into education has advanced rapidly, especially within Augmented Reality (AR) settings. This study explores the impact of AR-integrated science learning materials featuring a GAI-enhanced Pedagogical Agent (PA) on primary students’ academic achievement, cognitive load, and attitudes. Sixty sixth-grade students were randomly assigned to either an experimental group using AR with a GAI-enhanced PA or a control group without the PA. Findings revealed that the experimental group demonstrated higher academic achievement, lower cognitive load, and positive attitudes toward the GAI-enhanced PA. The study underscores the potential of GAI and AR integration to enhance educational standards and suggests avenues for future research in educational technology.
