Abstract

Scholars concerned with racial equity have called for scholarship that considers how to partner and respond to increased political fragmentation in educational systems. In this article, we chronicle how we began to build a Research-Community Practice Partnership (RCPP) focused on racial equity in education for Black children and families. We highlight the opportunities and tensions that emerged during Year One, and we emphasize three dilemmas that arose due to our distinct commitment to address anti-Black racism in local educational ecologies. We conclude by examining how we confronted each dilemma and surfacing how anti-Black racism, power asymmetries, and racialized organizational processes collide in our RCPP.
