Abstract

In this study, we provided professional development for teachers regarding the role that racism played and continues to play in the production of scientific knowledge, as well as the role(s) it continues to play in students’ and the greater public’s understanding of scientific knowledge. The research questions that guided the study are:
1. What are teachers’ understandings of the role of racism in the construction of scientific knowledge?
2. How do teachers approach learning about the role of racism in the construction of scientific knowledge?
